Elementary S01E08

The episode begins with Holmes playing his memory game and Watson wants to finish the talk they were having last night. She wants him to be serious about finding a sponsor as she will be with him only for a few more weeks. He agrees. Next, we see a group of web designers discussing about a new client. They hear a beeping sound coming from the vent. They think that the maintenance guy must have left his phone inside. We see that it is a bomb ad moments later, it explodes. Gregson, Bell and Holmes arrive at the site along with the team. Gregson tells Holmes that 2 were killed and 11 injured.

Holmes finds some packing paper lying around and this was used in the bomb. He then finds a motherboard of a pager. He feels that could be the part of the bombs detonator and since it isn’t too damaged, it can be traced. It would take around 2-3 hours for the results to be back and so Watson manages to get Holmes meet one of the sponsors, Adrian. But after talking to him for barely 2 minutes, Holmes decides he doesn’t like Adrian. There was a number pulled out of the device which was traced to a Rennie Jacobs who has served time for burning down his own house for an insurance scheme. Jacobs tells them that he was trying to call a deli and he must have misdialed. Holmes confirms that he is telling the truth. Maybe; but Gregson doesn’t want to cut him loose.

Later, as the bomb squad is explaining the scene to Gregson, Holmes points out to the picture of the battery and tells them that the bomb is four years old. He knows about the company and its new logo and this one is four years old. He then checks the newspaper shreds and Watson points out that it is from 2008. This means that Jacobs is innocent as he was in prison four years ago. So, Jacobs is a man who set it off accidentally in 2012 and now they need to find the guy who intended to set it off in 2008. Next, Holmes and Watson are in Van Owen which was founded in ’94. And this firm is adept in solving image crisis of the corporate variety.

And looking at the date of the bomb and the location of where the bomb exploded, Holmes deduces that Van Owen or one of its employees was the target as the place that was bombed was the old office base for Van Owen. They meet with Heather Vanowen and the CFO and they tell Holmes that they received some threatening mails from ELM. They are curious as to why didn’t the bomb go off. Holmes tells her that since the detonator was a pager, four years ago there were no signal towers around in the area and so the call wouldn’t go through and in 2010 there was a tower that was built just three blocks away. Hence the call went through this time.

And judging by the climatic conditions of the office, it looked like it did not require too much servicing and so, the bomb went unnoticed. Holmes goes through the letters ad finds out that ELM isn’t really a company but it is posing as one. At the AA meeting, Holmes decides that he wants Alfredo to be his sponsor. Alfredo is trying to stay clean and he can steal any car in the city. At home, he tells Watson that there is a phrase that has been repeated in five of the seven letters and that he has heard this phrase before. He then recollects that it was a talk show that he heard it on and the man is Edgar Knowles. They need to find out if he is the one who wrote those threatening letters. Bell talks to Knowles and he tells Bell that he is not an eco-terrorist and that he did not make a bomb.

Holmes arrives and tells him that he had managed to get Knowles’ prints off a button from the elevator and it matches to the prints that were found in an explosion of 2005. Knowles admits to five bombings and the writing of the threatening letters. But he did not plant this bomb. Holmes is now trying to create a bomb with tennis balls and few chemical components. He tells Watson that Knowles had admitted to have set off five nitrate bombs but the smell on the explosion site did not smell pungent. He tells her that the bomb was made with potassium chlorate. At the station, Holmes puts together the piece of paper from October 13th 2008 that was used to pack the bomb and there was an indentation that he noticed; it said NOVACAINE and the handwriting does not match Knowles’.

Gregson still likes Knowles as a suspect. Holmes wants Gregson to subpoena the personnel files from Van Owen; but he tells Holmes to take it u with them. Watson and Alfredo are waiting for Holmes and Holmes messages Watson saying that he is at Van Owens and cannot make it. Watson then talks to Alfredo and learns that he is a good person and can make a great sponsor as Alfredo had a great sponsor for him and he taught Alfredo everything. He has wanted to be a sponsor for a while, but nobody asked. Watson is pleased with Alfredo. Holmes is going through the papers of the company and he notices that a guy named Pradeep Singh who had shown significant rise in a year and a half, had an argument with the CFO just before he left. The CFO tells him that Singh snapped and told him that he would be sorry if he wouldn’t give him his fourth raise.

The episode begins with a man wearing a creepy mask and a hoodie robbing a house. He then arrives in a room where a couple is tied up and their faces are covered with pillows. The masked man shoots both of them. At home, Holmes and Watson are still not talking properly with each other. Watson tells him that this has to stop. She knows that she overstepped her boundaries by talking to Alister and asking him about Irene. But this is her job. Holmes gets a text from Gregson about the double homicide. He tells Watson that she is right and that he was sulking. But now he respects her job and suggests that they should start over. He goes to get coffee. Watson is surprised.

He gets up and goes; but then Watson hears the sound of the front door shutting. He left without her. Holmes arrives at the crime scene and tells Gregson that Watson has the day off as her cousin is ill. The victims are Jay and Amy Myrose. Gregson tells Holmes that walking into this crime scene was waking up in the middle of a nightmare. Holmes knows why; this scene resembles the Crews murders where Wade Crews murdered wealthy couples and empty the safes. But he was brought to justice by Gregson. Gregson is surprised that Holmes knows about this. He thinks that this is a copy cat. But Holmes thinks there is another possibility. He tells him that Crews always took one high heeled shoe from the scene as a trophy.

They go to the closet and see that in this case as well, the killer has taken a high heeled Jimmy Choo. Holmes thinks that despite Crews’s confession that he worked alone, he might had an accomplice that he didn’t tell the cops about. Holmes is avoiding Watson’s calls. He tells Gregson that they should talk to Wade Crews about his accomplice. But Gregson says that won’t happen as it is not yet a lead. Watson arrives and Holmes tells her that she can do whatever tests she wants every two hours but he says that his personal life is his own and he doesn’t want it to share it with anyone. She is fine with the arrangement and storms out saying that she would get in touch with him after two hours.

Bell tells Holmes and Gregson that Myrose received some threatening emails from a guy named Julian Walsh, a contractor who Jay fired after six weeks of hiring him for remodeling his kitchen. He also has some priors. They go to meet Walsh. He has no proper alibi. But judging by his body language, he guesses that Walsh is hiding something in his basement. He excuses himself to go to the bathroom and sneaks into the basement. He finds a scantily dressed woman chained inside a small room. Holmes tells her in her language that they are cops. She cries in his arms. Meanwhile, Watson talks to Holmes’ therapist and he tells her that he doesn’t know anything about Holmes’ life.

Holmes tells Gregson and Bell that the woman is a sex slave who was sold to Walsh and he spent every night in her room including last night. So, a sex slave is Walsh’s alibi. Holmes once again tells Gregson to order a task force to go find the four missing shoes including the latest one. He also wants Gregson to check if Crews was telling the truth when he said that he dumped the murder weapon in the East river. Holmes then checks the bullet from the crime scene and says that the grooves and the dents are similar to the ones found in the earlier scenes and is caused due to some problem with the barrel. Whatever it is, Crews lied that he dumped the weapon; it was used last night.

Next, Gregson is surprised to see Terry; his investigating partner in the Crews murders. Holmes called her. The entire team is going over the options; and Holmes thinks that Crews made a false confession. Gregson dismisses that possibility. Later, Holmes asks Gregson if things were alright between him and Terry. Watson then talks to another therapist and gets nothing. She then notices the gardener, who is interested in bee keeping and she mentions Holmes to him. He tells her that Holmes kind of liked him. She tries asking him about Irene but he says that Holmes never talked about her. He then hands her some letters that Holmes left behind; they were from Irene Adler. Gregson and Holmes talk to Crews.

Crews tells him that he was innocent and that the woman he was with could not testify as it could end her marriage. He also states that the evidence they found was planted. Holmes notices that he quoted Tolstoy; but according to the confession, Crews is supposed to be illiterate. He says that he has some raw intelligence but no one cared. He tells Gregson that hi arrest worked the best for the then Detective and now Captain. Gregson doesn’t want to dignify that remark with a reply. Holmes wants to talk to Carla, the woman Crews claimed to be with but they learn from her son that she died of leukemia. Holmes wonders why Gregson’s reactions were different while talking to Crews; looks like there is something he is hiding. Moreover Crews claimed that the coffee mug with his prints was planted at the scene.

The episode begins with Watson waking up with a start due to the loud noise of Holmes’ sound apps. Holmes thinks that this has been a slow week. Watson tells him that his father is in town for business and wants to have dinner. He points out to her that the man does everything electronically and he doesn’t want to meet his father. Just then Holmes hears a news of an unusual incident; a plane collision. They arrive at the scene. Gregson tells Holmes that this is a crash site and not a crime scene. Molinari tells Holmes that everything is under control. But Holmes walks around the scene. He infers that all the passengers were attorneys.

He notices a man whose leg has been amputated but he points out that there is no blood around the wounded area. There is also a blunt force trauma on his head. This proves that he was killed before the plane hit ground. The murder weapon was a very large wrench and the killer had to be in that very small plane carrying only three passengers. Watson thinks that Holmes is trying to keep himself busy in order to avoid dinner with his father. Holmes suggests that they should talk to the people who last saw the victims alive. Gregson talks to the owner of the plane company and he tells them that he and the Captain Joe Newel have been friends for the past twenty years. He also knew Walter Devlin as he flew with them often.

The other associates Hank Gerard and Ellie Wilson accompanied Devlin a couple of times. The man then says that Joe was ex-military and he didn’t have any temper. The owner then tells them about the security cameras that were put up in the parking areas. And he is confident that Joe has nothing to do with the attack on Gerard. Next, Bell tells Gregson and Holmes that the three attorneys were flying for a class action suit against a company, Carmanto Foods, that sold substitutes that caused cancer. The junior lawyer from Devlin’s firm said that there were a lot of arguments between the three lawyers about how to proceed. Gerard and Devlin had a lot of difference in opinion as Devlin wanted to settle and Gerard wanted to keep fighting. Gregson gets a message saying that they found the plane’s black box.

They hear the conversation that took place in the plane and Holmes says that they heard only Devlin’s and Ellie’s voices. He points out that Gerard did not say a word. He also points out that the pilot said that there were three people on the flight when it was supposed to be four. Holmes says that Gerard wasn’t on the plane. But Molinari reminds him that Gerard’s body was found in the wreckage. Holmes presents his theory that Gerard was killed elsewhere and his body was hid in the cargo. Devlin thought that Gerard missed his flight and he was yelling at the junior lawyer over the phone and then the chaos was about the plane crashing. Gerard’s phone is found but it is damaged. Holmes takes the phone and tries to retrieve a voice message.

He then concludes that Devlin and Ellie did not murder Gerard and Joe as a pilot would know not to dump extra weight in the cargo as it could lead to an accident like the one that they got into. So, the killer is still alive. Next, while discussing the case, Watson figures out that Holmes is scared of flying; and asks him how he traveled from London to New York. Bell arrives with the info that Charles Cooper, the owner of the plane company has managed to get the security footage. They see that Gerard was arguing with a man, no one recognizes. They ask if there are cams on the other end. Bart tells them that they were broken and not repaired. But Holmes takes a close look on the name on the mystery man’s sleeve and it reads: ARM TO.

Holmes fills in the remaining alphabets and it is CARMANTO. Holmes also sees an old pager on his waist. She then asks him to get ready for the dinner and Holmes says that his dad won’t show up. Watson then tells him that it is not a pager, it is an insulin pump. The mystery man is diabetic. Odd diabetic and working for a company that makes bad sugar! Holmes and Bell go to meet Ed Hairston. He says that he was giving Gerard information that would help him with the case; so he is a whistleblower. He says that Gerard was angry as Ed refused to testify and the argument was for the same. Holmes then leaves. He tells Bell that Ed is the weakest subject as he had Type II diabetes and this affected his grip. So he wouldn’t be able to use a heavy wrench. So, now they are left with the sand that they found on the seat of the plane. Watson meets Holmes father.

He then tells her about a nasty wound from his childhood. She wants to know more about Holmes and he asks her as to how is the sex between them. Watson at once realizes that he is not Holmes’ father and he says that he was asked to take the place. Holmes was right: “Dad never shows”. Holmes tells Molinari and Bell that the sand he found at the site was unusual and he takes them to the fuel tank of the wrecked plane. He pulls out some sand from the tank and he says that somebody put the commercial sand inside the fuel tank, causing the plane to crash. This means the plane was sabotaged. Maybe Gerard walked into the sabotage and he got killed. The sabotage was supposed to land the plane in the waters, thus wiping away the traces of sand.

The episode begins with Holmes trying to choke a man. Well, it is a dead body and he is practicing his choke hold. Also this is a part of his experiments that are crucial for his investigation purposes. These people have donated their bodies to science and since the attendant owes Holmes a favor, he was let inside the morgue. Watson however isn’t too comfortable. They are on their way out and Holmes thanks Bruce for his help. Just then a new body is brought in. This man died an hour ago, and he died of a heart attack. Watson takes a look at the body and states that the old man had brain cancer as there is a mark suggesting that he was under radiotherapy.

Watson thinks that the heart attack was triggered due to his ailment but Holmes isn’t in agreement with that. He then heads to the room where the old man was kept. He tells Watson that the dead man was given epinephrine and that was the COD. But Watson says that it is a common drug given during all cardiac codes. He reaches the room and asks the janitor to leave. He then shows a mark on the dead man’s finger and Watson identifies it to be eskemia caused due to epinephrine. But if e had been given epinephrine during the code, that is after the heart had stopped, it wouldn’t have caused eskemia. So, they are investigating a murder. The hospital guards knock at the door. But Holmes doesn’t let them in as it would ruin the crime scene.

He wonders how the killer escaped after giving epinephrine to the old man and before the onset of a heart attack, as the nurse said there was no one in the room. Watson deduces that the killer must have injected it into the IV, which could give him ten minutes. And also the pump is turned down. He then checks the waste bin. Next, Watson sees an old doctor friend, Carrie Dwyer and introduces her to Holmes. Gregson is talking to the administrator, Richard Sanchez. Gregson asks Holmes to apologize to Sanchez after which, they will be given full access to the crime scene. Holmes is furious that he had to apologize to Sanchez. He says that they need to find the woman who brought coffee for the victim as he saw two coffee cups and one of them had lipstick marks. He then shows Watson a receipt from the coffee shop and points out the name and number of a guy named Dave.

He knows that Dave was flirting with the woman as he gave her more than she ordered. Dave remembers that the customer was a sexy blonde doctor. But Homes figures out that the woman wasn’t a doctor as a doctor would never wear heavy perfume or tight fitting clothes. Watson thinks she knows where they could find Dave’s sexy doctor. She takes Holmes to a high end cosmetic store. They find a blonde there who matches Dave’s description. She is surprised to hear Trent Kelty is dead. They were neighbors and she felt sorry for him when he completely lost his sight. That is when she started visiting Trent more often. But according to the timeline Holmes thinks that she cannot be the killer as she left an hour before the murder took place. She says that Trent had no friends or family.

The only person he spoke was the doctor who visited him every night and he was helping him cope with the pain. Holmes remembers a cut up pancake on the table and Jacqueline says that she didn’t cut it up for him. Holmes knows that the person who cut the pancake is the killer. Holmes then proposes his theory in which he thinks that killer had cut the pancake into child like pieces which means he likes the dependence that his victims show towards him. Also, he chooses weak and sick people who are doomed to death. The hospital provides an endless supply of the same. They then meet the Head of Surgery and they know he hates Sanchez. They want him to grant access to all medical records of the earlier deaths in the hospital. Dr. Baldwin agrees. Holmes lists down 73 deaths due to cardiac events.

Watson knows that the drug used to kill is hard to get hold of and so she checks different logs and finds out that epinephrine went missing on 9 occasions which corresponds to the dates of 9 deaths. So the killer has killed 9 people. They have their pattern; so now they can start listing their suspects and there are 23 of them. Holmes then decides to check the charts and find out who was on duty on those nine days and who didn’t have access to the floor. He suggests that they could be looking at nurses as Trent was blind, so he would never know the difference. In the elevator, Holmes apologizes to the janitor for his earlier behavior. Holmes goes to his first suspect, Dr. Baldwin.

But he says that he is too indifferent to his patient’s pain to be the Angel of Death and since the angel’s act is that of mercy, he couldn’t be the killer. Holmes agrees with him and he has an alibi as he was on a train during Trent’s death. Watson is with Carrie and she tells her about the situation. Carrie finds it weird. She then takes Watson along to meet one of her patents, Morgan who tore her ACL during a soccer match. Watson notices a mark on Morgan’s left toe. Holmes and Bell interview another doctor, Cahill and Holmes thinks that he isn’t their angel. Bell thinks otherwise but moves on to their next suspect. Watson tells Carrie that Morgan might be suffering from endocartitis but Carrie dismisses that option. Carrie then agrees to do an echocardiogram.

The episode begins with a worried Watson walking into Gregson’s office, asking for help. Holmes hasn’t been in touch for more than three hours and she is worried that he has relapsed. She wants Gregson to help her find him. Next, we see Holmes in a car; cuffed and his legs are zip-tied as well. Cut to two days earlier; Watson is at coffee with one of her girl pal and she sets Watson up with Aaron; an ambush as Watson calls it. She is off the dating scene for a while and so she is feeling a little awkward. Holmes texts her and asks her to meet him immediately. At home, he realizes that she met a handsome man as she tied up her hair; she does that when she wants to look her best.

Holmes tells her that they have been summoned to a financial firm, Canon Ebersole. He is in his last night’s clothes and Watson asks him to dress more formally. He says that he loathes bankers. Jim Fowkes, the Chief Investment Officer, introduces Dan Cho as the Chief Financial Officer. Holmes cuts into the introduction as wants Jim to get to the point. The COO, Peter Tobert, has gone missing and there is important business that Peter needs to take care of. The NYPD cannot get involved until 48 hours and they can’t wait that long. Holmes negotiates 12 times his current rates. Well, he has no current rate and tells Watson to come up with one. He also gives a demonstration to prove his worth. Jim agrees to his rate and his secretary takes Holmes to Peter’s office.

Holmes notices a lot of books around and pulls out a book that Peter consults the most and inside that book is a diary with pictures of prostitutes; he likes the expensive ones. So, there has to be a way he manages his expenses. Holmes checks peter’s computer and finds that he has two accountants and Rydell Martin handles his private account. He then calls the secretary, Donna and asks her to make reservations at an expensive hotel. They meet with Rydell and he admits to maintaining Peter’s expenses for his “pleasures’. He also tells Holmes that Peter has a rented apartment near Tribeca .He gives Holmes the address. On their way to the apartment, Holmes tells her that he knows about Aaron and that Aaron sent a text asking of she would like to go to dinner tonight. He checked her phone when she was in the shower.

He replied a “yes”. They reach the apartment and find Peter dead; an overdose of heroin. The detectives are going to classify this as an accidental OD. But Holmes says that this is murder. He points out at the apartment and says that it is too pristine for a habitual heroin user; well Holmes was one. Also he knows that in order to insensate Peter, the first dose of heroin came from the salad on the kitchen platform. They then decide to tell Peter’s wife about ‘all this”. he learns from Mrs. Tobert that she was at an auction when Peter was killed and also that the previous COO also died due to his peanut allergy; this was a year ago. At home, Holmes tells Watson that he spoke to the chef who prepared the former COO’s food and he said that the peanut oil was put in the food after it left the kitchen.

Holmes feels that if there is heroin in the salad, then the MO is consistent; murder in a way the world would consider an accident. Holmes then asks her to go on her date with Aaron and assures her that he will be fine. The date goes well and Aaron asks her out on another date. She doesn’t answer and leaves. at home, she tells Holmes that she thinks that Aaron lied about not being married. Holmes finds out that Aaron is married and Watson is pissed. However, the good news is that the lab results are back and they did find trace heroin in the salad. He also put up pictures of people from the firm who died over the last ten years. He then tells her that they will go to Canon Ebersole and call upon a board meeting to see if there is a murderer at work.

Next day, Holmes addresses the boar and tells them about five other employees who died in mysterious circumstances, right from 2003. So, someone has been killing to climb up the ladder. Jim is furious as the only one who has shown that kind of growth is him. Holmes wants access to the files and Jim says that this isn’t possible. Later, Jim arrives at Holmes’ apartment with files that can prove that he and Dan Cho couldn’t be suspects and has proof of the timeline. Holmes cannot make sense out of this. He agrees that Dan did not gain anything from these murders but Jim did. Aaron asks Watson to meet him so that he can explain. Watson agrees to meet him on Holmes’ insistence. Holmes then comes across the name Donna as an emergency contact for Jim. At the restaurant, Aaron explains himself by telling Watson that he married to give the girl asylum in the US.

He would have told her about this eventually; if there was “eventually”. Meanwhile, Holmes goes to meet Donna and points out to her that she had a lot to gain from her boss, Jim’s rise. He says that she has been to all the places Jim has been to. He wants to know whether she committed the murders herself or did Jim assist her. Donna tazes Holmes. Cut to the present where Holmes is cuffed and is in the backseat of Donna’s car. Donna is driving him to Jim’s estate and she is going to kill him there. After two weeks she plans to give the cops an anonymous tip so that the dead body could be found and everything falls on Jim. With Jim gone, Dan Cho would get the promotion. Watson is continuously messaging Holmes and his phone is with Donna.

Elementary S01E03

The episode begins in Brooklyn and the year is 2005, where a boy named Adam is walking to school. A car pulls over and a voice calls out to him. Sounds like, Adam has seen this guy before! He offers Adam a ride and Adam notices lots of ‘thank you” balloons in his car. The man tells him that they are for his parents. Adam gets into the car and the man leaves the balloons on the site where he picked up Adam. Cut to the present, Holmes is looking at some old case files of the Balloon Man. He tells Watson that he heard on his police scanner that the Balloon Man has abducted one more girl named Mary Ann last night and he will be receiving a call from the PD soon.

His phone rings and Holmes arrives at the victim’s house. Gregson tells him that the perpetrator had broken into the girl’s bedroom through the window and took her leaving the balloons. The father was at the bodega buying wine and the mother was at the opening of an art gallery. Holmes notices some freshly broken roots and assumes that the girl must have broken it on her way out for as a hand hold. Bell thinks she is a fighter. They go inside the house and see that the parents are about to give an interview to a news channel. Holmes takes a spray paint and paints the camera lens. He had warned the cameraman against recording.

He then tells the parents that the Balloon Man thrives on the mourning of the children’s’ parents. The more the media exposure about the case, the earlier the Balloon Man would get rid of his victims. This he found out when he studied the earlier cases and co-related it to the media exposure. So, he tells the parents to do as he says; and he is right most of the times; almost every time. Holmes then examines the kitchen and goes through other things in the house. He arrives and tells Mr. Castillo that he is lying as he did not buy the wine from the bodega as it is labeled differently. There are too many kitchen items, which prove that the couple has separated and got back again.

Also from his mails and caller id, he figures out that Castillo has a mistress and he had gone out to meet her last night when Marianna was abducted. He admits to meeting his girlfriend and Holmes tells him that he wants to talk to her as she could have seen something. At the station, Gregson talks to the mistress Lori Thompson. Lori then tells them that she saw a van running a stop sign and nearly hitting her. Holmes thinks that the Balloon Man got sloppy this time as he usually chloroforms his victims but Marianna was awake when he took her. He also mentions hearing sirens when he was listening into the police scanner.

There was a domestic dispute two blocks away from Castillo’s house and a cop car was dispatched to settle this situation. So the Balloon Man must have heard the siren, thought it was for him and panicked and then sped. Lori tells them that the van was dark brown. Watson is worried that Holmes has eaten the whole day. Next, bell, Watson and Holmes go to the neighborhood and find a sedan with a lot of parking tickets, which means it has been there for days. He also notices that it has been sideswiped by a brown vehicle. But there are also white and blue paint mixed with the brown. Holmes infers that this van is a former decommissioned NYPD van. He asks Bell to do a BOLO on this van.

Gregson and Bell tell Holmes that they got a hit on the BOLO. They find the vehicle and chase it. a man tries to get out and run but bell easily tackles him. The van is empty. Bell takes off the hood and tells Gregson that this guy is too young to be the Balloon Man. Holmes looks at a birthmark and declares that this boy is the first victim; Adam. They interrogate Adam but he refuses to speak. Watson tells Holmes and Gregson about a case she read about where the victim grew sympathetic to his captor and inadvertently helped him. There is a possibility that the same happened with Adam and he could have helped the Balloon Man with his other victims; to what extent, that can’t be said but Adam could help them find Marianna.

Holmes wants to talk to Adam and Gregson after a bit of reluctance allows five minutes of questioning. Holmes enters the room and introduces himself. He then tells Adam about a bully at the boarding school who tortured Holmes a lot. But instead of hating him, Holmes says that he liked the attention he got from his tormentor. Adam begins to open up to him and tells Holmes that the man loved him and took great care of him. Just then Gregson arrives and says no more questioning as Adam’s parents have lawyered up. They know that the police suspect Adam and so they are trying to get immunity from the DA. Holmes says that after talking to Adam it is clear that the Balloon Man works nights.

Elementary S01E02

The episode begins with Watson and Holmes attending an AA meeting. Watson looks at Holmes and he seems to be slightly lost. She touches his shoulders and he gets up yelling. He then shakes himself and leaves. Outside, he tells Watson that he hypnotized himself to avoid listening to the sob stories. Watson asks him as to why doesn’t he listen if he doesn’t want to share. He explains the Attic theory in which the brain stores only what is useful. So he blocks out the useless stuff. Watson then tells him that she will be going for dinner tonight and will be gone for two hours. Holmes receives a call from Gregson. Next, they arrive at the crime scene. A dead body is lying in the hallway.

The man is shot in his face and his wallet and watch are missing and the drawers are tossed as well. Looks like he walked in on his burglar! Bell and Gregson classify this as a robbery-homicide case. The neighbor was the first one to see the dead body and call 911. Watson examines the scene and tells Bell that this is a robbery and a homicide case; by two different perpetrators. He then says that the woman who shot the victim was seated on the leather chair. He knows it is a she as he can smell lady’s deodorant on the leather. The robbery was committed by a strong man as he says that a large armoire is missing. This he judges by the pattern on the wall. Watson arrives with a picture of the victim and points out that there was an armoire at the same spot.

He follows the drag marks and kicks open the neighbor’s door; and the armoire is in his apartment. So we have the thief! And now we need, is the killer!! They interrogate the neighbor. He tells Bell that Casey, the victim, was already shot when he saw him. He did take his belongings and armoire but he never laid a finger on him. Holmes, who is watching the interrogation, is annoyed as he had clearly mentioned that there were two perpetrators. Bell comes out and tells them that the neighbor says that he saw a woman on the stairs; Bell thinks he is fabricating the story after he heard Holmes’ theory. But Holmes thinks they should get a sketch made. Gregson calls for an artist. Later, Holmes tells Watson that she is dining with her ex.

He says that she should sleep with him as she hasn’t had sex for a while and she lacks an orgasmic gait. He says that sleeping with him would do wonders for her mood. Next, Watson meets her ex Ty, who says that he and her parents are worried about her. The following morning, Holmes can tell that she didn’t sleep with her ex. He is going through Casey’s autopsy and notices a rare genetic disorder of the cornea. She tries asking him about London; but he refuses to speak. Just then Bell calls; they found the woman from the sketch. Bell then asks him to come to the hospital. He then takes Watson and Holmes to a room where we see a woman lying on the bed. She is the same woman from the sketch and her name is Yvette Ellison.

But she has been in a coma for the past three days as she tried killing herself with pills and vodka. so, it appears that the neighbor lied. Holmes can smell the same deodorant. He feels that she is faking it. But Watson checks her vitals and finds it consistent with a coma patient. Looks like a dead end! But Holmes says that Bell found the right face but the wrong girl. Holmes tells her about the book he found at the bed side table which says: To Yvette and Rebecca on your 5th birthday. This means that Yvette has a twin sister. Later, Holmes finds out that Yvette and Rebecca are the twins of the recently deceased Charles Ellison; the shipping millionaire. They go to meet Rebecca.

But they are shocked to see that Rebecca is nothing like Yvette. Rebecca tells them that they are fraternal twins, not identical. At home, Watson finds a violin and asks Holmes to play it to relieve stress. He tells her that he doesn’t play anymore. Ty calls and when Watson goes to take the call, Holmes sets fire to the violin. Watson extinguishes the fire. Just then Gregson calls; there is another murder and with the same gun that killed Casey. So clearly the neighbor isn’t their guy. Holmes points out that this woman, Anna Webster, suffered from the same genetic disorder of the cornea. This means that Casey and Anna were brother and sister. They were half siblings. But they didn’t know about each other’s existence.

So, both shared a mystery dad and they were murdered with the same gun; obviously this is no coincidence. Bell arrives stating that Anna filed a complaint few weeks ago as she thought that a guy was following her. He also shows them the picture that Anna shot from her window. Gregson knows this guy. They go to meet Mike. Mike tells them that he can’t say anything as per the client privilege. Holmes takes him aside and tells him that he knows that Mike has turned to meth to stay awake for long hours and can also tell that the stash is nearby. He says that he would tell Gregson and Bell anything if he gives them the information. Mike places a file on the desk and leaves. Next, they go to meet Rebecca and ask her why she had Mike follow Casey and Anna.

The episode begins with two glasses full of water falling on the floor; the broken pieces are scattered all over. We then see a woman being strangled by someone (face not shown). She falls and cuts her hand on the broken pieces; a little blood is smeared on the floor. She then manages to escape and runs into her bedroom. The unknown killer follows her and she struggles. Cut to the scene where Joan Watson is enjoying her morning jog. She then arrives to pick someone up but she is informed that he escaped. She then calls the guy’s father and tells him that his son left a little early. She is on her way to meet him. She then goes to meet the guy who escaped; Sherlock Holmes.

She arrives at his house and sees that the room has around six televisions playing different shows. Holmes actually escaped from the rehab. She tells him that his father hired her to be his sober companion and is there to enable the transition of his life from the rehab experience to the normal routine. She will be living with him for the next six weeks. Holmes manages to predict the dialog of a show; spot on, and Watson is shocked. Judging by her hands, Holmes figures out that Watson is a surgeon. He also knows that she has a car; he saw the parking ticket when she dropped her purse. She is marveled by his keen observation. He then tells her that he was a consultant with the Scotland Yard.

He tells her that he has devised a post rehab regime that would keep her busy; he has decided to resume as a consultant with the cops. They arrive at a crime scene and he introduces her to Capt. Gregson as his personal valet. He also tells him that she is crucial to his process. Gregson educates Holmes and Watson about the murder. Dr. Richard Mantlo arrived home and found his door kicked in and his wife Amy Damper missing. Mantle is a “head shrink “in a hospital and he was called for an emergency and didn’t get home till 5 am. The first officer on the scene reported signs of struggle in the kitchen and bedroom, but no Miss Amy. Holmes then asks for Amy’s cell phone.

He checks her pictures and infers that she lost a lot of weight and underwent a number of plastic surgeries in the past two years. He then goes into the kitchen and concludes that Amy knew her attacker and she let him in the house herself. There are two glasses of water that appear to be broken; obviously, she was pouring one for her guest. He then tells Gregson that the boot prints on the wall has blood on it and he is sure it would test positive for Amy’s blood; this means he kicked the door after the assault took place. He was familiar to Amy and he kicked the door while he exited. Also he took something from the living room as he sees an empty space disturbing the symmetry of the two sides.

It was an old ring box Amy’s grandma gave her. He tells the group that kidnappers don’t take trophies but killers do! He then goes to the bedroom and discovers a safe room, cleverly concealed in the wall. But the slope of the floor gives it away. But they also discover Amy’s dead body lying in her blood poll inside the safe room. Holmes hates it when he is right! Next, Mantlo is being interrogated and he says that he wasn’t aware of the safe room and he did not hurt his wife. Holmes tells Watson that he knows that she changed her profession as the death of a dear one affected her a lot. And she wonders how he knew about her father’s affair; Google!!

Not everything is deducible. Detective Javier Abreu comes out of the interrogation room and thanks Holmes for his help. Since they have their guy now, they would take it further from here. But, not so soon! Holmes believes that Mantlo didn’t kill his wife. The reason; his feet are a size 8 and the killer was a size 11. Moreover, the strangulation marks suggest that the hands are bigger than Mantlo’s, which leads to the conclusion that the killer is around six foot one-three. Holmes then asks Mantlo to list the names of all tall men in his life and he gives Homes six names. There are only two names that have been in any trouble with the cops; Joseph, the guy who redesigned the house and his record has a string of parking tickets.

And the other is Harrison Polk, an administrator at San Bridge hospital and was charged for stalking a neighbor. Holmes believes that they should first talk to Polk. They go to his office and they notice a shoe box on the chair, and the shoe size is 11! He says that he didn’t kill Amy. He had only asked her about her plastic surgery. He then shows them a picture of hers that was taken two years ago, and it is clearly evident. The next day, at work Holmes tells Watson that serial killers are the ones who generally take trophies after a killing. So, to get an insight, he researched about some earlier killings and found one similar to this one; a size 11 shoe and a missing jewelry box.
